Why You Should Choose The 2023 Nissan Rogue Over The 2023 Hyundai Tucson

Nissan Rogue

Choosing a new compact crossover is not an easy task due to the abundance of modern and competent models on the Canadian market, but the 2023 Nissan Rogue has what it takes to come out on top when compared to its rivals, such as the 2023 Hyundai Tucson.

Value

Hyundai vehicles have traditionally been known to offer good value and this is still true to a certain extent in the 2023 Tucson, but the 2023 Nissan Rogue can actually do even better by offering some standard and available features at a lower price point than its competitor. Indeed, the entry-level Rogue S costs about $250 less than the entry-level Tucson but it offers items such as blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, a heated steering wheel, a dual-zone automatic climate control system, and illuminated vanity mirrors which are all missing from the base-model Tucson.

A modern powertrain

The 2023 Nissan Rogue has an advantage over the 2023 Hyundai Tucson in terms of powertrain since most versions are powered by a very modern engine which is more efficient and more powerful than the Tucson’s standard powertrain. Indeed, while the Tucson is offered in hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions which cost quite a bit more than comparably equipped versions of the Rogue, the gasoline-powered models are all motivated by a 2.5L four-cylinder engine. This is the same configuration as the Rogue’s entry-level engine, and while the Tucson makes six additional horsepower, it offers less torque and it is less efficient than the Rogue. Furthermore, every other trim level in the Rogue lineup is powered by a modern 1.5L turbocharged 3-cylinder engine which delivers 201 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque while being even more efficient than the Tucson’s only gasoline option.

Safety

While the 2023 Hyundai Tucson offers a lot of advanced safety features just like the 2023 Nissan Rogue, the latter overtook it in this year’s rankings by the IIHS. Indeed, the American agency updated its testing method this year and this resulted in many models losing their Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+ awards in 2023. This is the case of the Hyundai Tucson, which was ranked Top Safety Pick + last year but isn’t on the board this year. Since the 2023 Nissan Rogue was named Top Safety Pick in 2023 with the harsher testing methods, this means that it is better able to keep you and your family safe out on the road.
